I recently saw that @Gen. Stanley McChrystal, and Chris Fussell, advising leaders on how to lead during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. They recently released some guidance on how to best lead organisations, teams or even your family right now.

I thought I would share some lessons for you on how the military leads organisations in war, and during times of crises.

This should help you move towards leading as best as possible right now, and avoid making mistakes with large consequences.

How to avoid the 3 biggest mistakes made during crises

These are three of the most common mistakes organisations and governments make during times of crisis:

  1. Not knowing what’s going on — having poor situational awareness.
  2. Bad communication — Poor communication of the plan from the strategic top down.
  3. Not talking to each other — Departments and teams not coordinating their actions.
