LEADING BY INTENT — Bridging the gap between strategy and action
I’m thinking there is a real pain point here. I just don’t see big consultancy firms that are able to help companies bridge the gap between strategy and things like Lean, Scrum and Big Data…”
Yesterday, I took a coffee with a former colleague. He is a former officer and now civilian in charge of a large department at a telecoms company.
We were discussing industry trends. Like how popular frameworks like Agile, Scrum, and Big Data had become. They are successful in their own right. Yet combined they seem to cause a new problem. How do you integrate them together along side your strategy…how does one bridge the gap between strategy and action?
For example, take a company looking to become more adaptable and less bureaucratic. They might outsource their strategy to a McKinsey. While also employing a big 4 consultancy to teach Scrum, Lean, Big Data etc…
However, the problem arises that there is a gap between your strategy and your implementation (Scrum, Lean etc..).
Of course, some will disagree with me and my former colleague. But we both agreed that systems like scrum aid more effective action of those on the frontline.
